Our approach
Ayurveda practised properly takes time
Nirvaan Re-Treat is an Ayurvedic retreat and spa in Sri Lanka, offering original Ayurvedic treatments — not spa treatments borrowing the name — given by trained therapists and prescribed by an Ayurvedic doctor.
Why we do it this way
In Ayurveda there is no standard treatment, because there is no standard body. Two guests arriving with the same complaint can need different oils, different therapies and a different diet. That is why every plan here begins with a consultation, and why we would rather tell you a treatment is wrong for you than sell it to you.
Our therapists are trained in the classical therapies — Abhyanga, Shirodhaara, Pizhichil, Panchakarma and the specialised Vasthi treatments — and every oil, powder and pack we use is herbal.
Treatments are given at the pace the therapy actually needs, with rest built into the day rather than squeezed out of it.
For guests staying with us, meals are traditional Sri Lankan dishes prepared according to your individual body constitution, rooms are air-conditioned with hot water, and airport pickup and drop-off can be arranged. We welcome guests travelling from around the world, and visitors from across Sri Lanka.
If you have an existing health condition, please bring your medical records, previous reports and current medications. The more our doctor knows, the more precisely you can be treated.

What we stand for
Three things we will not compromise on
Consultation first, always
No treatment is given before the doctor has assessed you. It is slower, and it is the only way the therapies work as intended.
Original preparations
Classical herbal oils, powders, poultices and packs — prepared traditionally, not substituted with cosmetic products.
Honest advice
If a therapy is not right for your condition, we will tell you and suggest what is — including when the answer is to see a physician first.
